Description: Altbier is an amber beer that reigns supreme in Dusseldorf’s Altstadt or “Old Town.” Alt, or “old” in German, refers to a time before lager bier. It harkens back to traditions of German beer ingenuity, using cool fermentation temperatures and a long storage time with ale yeast, to round out a beer’s flavors and aromas. Wort Hog’s Whoopin’ Sticke is our take on a Doppel Sticke Altbier, or “Double Secret Alt.” Sticke Altbier is a deep amber ale that has a smooth malt flavor and a bracing, hoppy backbone. The secret to this beer? Even more German malt and more German hops! Traditionally, Secret Alt was only for the Dusseldorf locals who were “in the know” and only released a few times a year.
