Description: Introducing…… Hop Experiment #3, “The Colorado Turbid IPA” Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines turbidity of a liquid as follows, "...not clean or clear : cloudy or muddy". So went our third Hop Experiment. We were not exactly clear about how to brew what has come to be known as the "New England Style IPA,” and we knew the path wouldn't necessarily be completely clear, but rather somewhat cloudy, possibly even, (metaphorically, of course), muddy. So, we set out to define the style, a beer of brilliant yellow color with considerable turbidity. It needed to have a striking nose, thick with citrus and floral notes. On the palate it needed to sit a bit heavy and slightly sweet, while offering up rich flavors of lemon, tangerine, and grapefruit.
