Description: Aged 6 months in gin barrels Alpha Hop brewer Nick Ison lifts the glass to his nose and smiles. “The nectarine is the opposite of subtle,” he says, knowing that’s by design. With its extra bump of carbonation, this barrel-aged nectarine blonde — at 10.5%, mind you — manages to drink light, spritzy, and like a gift from summertime herself. The fruit went exclusively into primary fermentation, and while it lends a perceived sweetness, the yeast annihilated the sugar for a pleasantly dry finish. And after 6 months in St. George gin barrels, notes of cedar and black pepper round out this ripe can of sunshine. Recommended aging time: up to 6 months
