Description: In the first lockdown last year, we brewed an incredibly cool recipe together with LEHE Pruulikoda (EST) from a distance. Because the real physical collab was thrown overboard by COVID at the time, we named the beer “Must Aare” (“Black Treasure” in Estonian), which went overboard but has not been lost. Must Aare is a Big Black Barleywine, brewed with loads of "Maris Otter" and "Special B" malts that impart the "raisin" scent and flavor to barleywines. We also used containers of Carafa and Dark Crystal for the roasted toffee side. Beautiful, almost black in color with a ruby red shine, Must Aare has a monstrous alcohol percentage of 16%. After that we barrel aged this Black Treasure for a full year in Bordeaux barrels (red wine), which give a depth of ripe red fruit towards Port, with a nice layering of oak, soft tannins and a hint of vanilla.
