Description: Our intention for this beer was to be dark, bold, flavorful, full bodied and be something that would remind you of being in the outdoors with a campfire. We used a number of distinct specialty malts to help create the specific roasted character we were looking for in this beer. We also added German Rauchmalt that has been kiln dried in Bamberg, Germany using open beechwood fires, which allows the smoke to penetrate and flavor the malt as the drying process occurs. All throughout cold conditioning the beer was aged on toasted oak chips for a total of about 10 days. This contributed slightly woodsy and vanilla notes to the flavor profile. Hops played a back seat role in this beer, as there is so much else going on. This would pair very well with any barbecued meat or chocolate.
