Description: War, what is it good for? Well, in this case it's a good excuse to have a few beers! Oliver Brewery Co. once again "celebrates" the War Of 1812 by waging war with itself. Brewer Derek Davis hails from Oxford, Pa in the good ol' USA and has brewed an American IPA, 6.5% abv, using American malt (a base of Briess 2-row pale ale malt), American hops (Nugget & Columbus for bittering, Citra and Amarillo for finishing, Columbus for dry hopping) and American yeast (California Ale Yeast). I, born in Oxford, England brewed a British IPA, 6.8% abv, all English malt (oh, the subtle sweetness of Maris Otter), English hops (Phoenix for bittering, Kent Goldings, Bramling Cross and Phoenix for finishing, Phoenix and Bramling Cross as a dry hop) and, of course fermented with our house strain of English Ringwood Ale Yeast. Who will win the War Of 1812, try them side by side and you decide ... tweet it out to us @oliverale using the hashtag #RuleBritannia or #Merica.
