Description: Madera is yet another waypoint on our long term journey to create a Solera barleywine. The process starts with our oxidized barleywine, Estufa, which ages for a minimum of 3 years in wood casks to become Solera, with periodic harvests that enable the solera maturation process to unfold. These periodic harvests produce Madera, a barrel-aged, oxidized barleywine. For this first release of Madera, we are harvesting from a stack of Bourbon Maple barrels, which have held the oxidized barleywine base allowing it to take on notes of oak, vanilla, maple sugar and additional dark fruit flavors from further oxidative aging.
