Description: Smashing Rumpkin pumpkin ale is different each year. The beer is a little different to the last, whether it be a change to the spices used, the variety or quantity of pumpkin, or the way in which rum is used to impart its rumminess. For the 2014 version, the barrel and spices still feature front and centre but, as usual, there’s been some more fine-tuning. The spice mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger has been “bastardised” while the amount of pumpkin was increased substantially - a whopping 75kg in all (that meant a lot of chopping and roasting, so the brave souls who helped out now have their names immortalised in the beer’s label artwork). The resulting beer has all the layers of sweet spice you’d expect which, when coupled with the barrels, add some incredibly enticing flavours and aromas like vanilla, coconut and all the best bits you’d expect to find in a Jamaican spiced rum.
