Description: Our “Smoked Imperial Common” – the smokiness of a German Rauchbier layered into an imperial-strength version of San Francisco’s quintessential California Common style. Saint Lucy, a young Christian martyr, was sentenced to death, but when they heaped wood at her feet and set it on fire, she only smoked and would not burn. Our smoke comes from restrained use of German beechwood-smoked malt. Pale Ale and Pilsner malts provide a firm backbone to keep the beer approachable despite its higher alcohol level. Brewed with Jen Jordan, the San Francisco Homebrewers Guild inaugural “Homebrewer of the Year” (2013), and the first woman brewer to work for the historic Anchor Brewing Company.
