Description: Barleywine by its very nature is a challenge. Huge beers with bold strokes, complexities, & subtle notes. When approaching one, there can be but a single victor (and it's not always the drinker). With this sense of conflict in mind, we built this brew upon a robust bill of English Marris Otter, French Barbe Rouge hops, and a high gravity Scottish yeast strain. A warrior straddling the Channel with conquest on the mind, it seemed only right to commemorate this beer to William and his victory in 1066. Bold, full-bodied, and complex this big barleywine was aged for 18 months on barrels previously holding Wisconsin's unofficial spirit - BRANDY! This sweet, malty brew started with robust fruity & berry flavors picked up a mellowing dryness from the brandy, complimenting vanilla & marshmallow notes from the oak.
