Description: Doppelbock, or double Bock in English, is a lager first brewed in Munich, Germany as a form of sustenance for monks at a time of fasting. The traditional style was a little sweet, and known as “liquid bread” with a higher alcohol content than regular bock. Very malty in style, crisp and clean tasting, showing a traditional copper color and that hint of sweetness, a Doppelbock’s name usually ends in to indicate the double style. In the tradition of great Doppels such as Celebrator, Salvator and Optimator, we present our Regulator. Prior to the American Revolution, frontiersmen in what is now Durham were involved in the "War of Regulators." According to legend, Loyalist militia cut Cornwallis Road through this area in 1771 to quell the rebellion. Later, William Johnston, a local shopkeeper and farmer, forged Revolutionary ammunition, served in the Provincial Capital Congress in 1775, and helped underwrite Daniel Boone's westward explorations. Say Prost! to the Regulators of Durham. Hops: Perle, Saaz
