Description: Whig's Vault gives new meaning to the the word "terror". Our friends at RVA Yeast Labs in Richmond, VA took a trip to Scotland. While there, they visited Dunnottar Castle, a ruined medieval fortress located on a rocky headland on the north-east coast of Scotland. Unlike most tourists, these guys carry their yeast propagation equipment with them most places they go. So... they set up their petri dishes and managed to capture a yeast strain from this ancient castle, brought it back to Richmond and proceeded to isolate and grow it for use by brewers. We, at BLBC, are all about this kind of exotic ingredient, so we jumped at the chance to use it in a beer. Our beer is brewed in the Wee Heavy style, but at the lighter end of the spectrum, so that the yeast can shine. It presents with rich, clean intense malt flavors. Hints of roasted malt and smoky flavor/aromas add depth and character. A'm guttin thirsty!
